The ranking at a glance

Each provider is scored on six criteria, from UAE plan range to terms clarity. Tap a stop on the line to open its full review.

TonMobile is the best eSIM for Dubai and the UAE for most visitors in 2026, with the highest score in our six-criteria rating. TonMobile lists 11 UAE plans starting at $4.00 for 1 GB, takes both bank cards and crypto at checkout, asks for no documents, and lets you activate the eSIM any time within 180 days of purchase.

Key takeaways

  • TonMobile sells 5 fixed UAE plans from $4.00 to $34.00 and 6 unlimited passes from 1 to 30 days.
  • Nomad lists the lowest 20 GB price for 30 days at $29.00, against $34.00 at TonMobile and Airalo.
  • Airalo has the cheapest month of unlimited data in this comparison at $72.00, on the Etisalat network.
  • Holafly sells only unlimited UAE plans on du, from $6.90 for one day, with hotspot capped at 500 MB a day.
  • WhatsApp and FaceTime calls are restricted on UAE networks; messages, photos and voice notes still work.
  • Buy and install before you fly: Saily and Roamless both say their eSIMs cannot be bought or installed inside the UAE.

The eight providers, one by one

The eight reviews below follow the order of the UAE eSIM rating, from the highest score down.

1. TonMobile: highest score for a UAE trip

TonMobile is a travel eSIM service that sells data plans for 180+ countries through a web store, an iPhone app, an Android app and a Telegram bot. The TonMobile homepage describes its eSIMs as "up to 5x cheaper than roaming" and says no documents are required.

The TonMobile UAE plan page labels every plan "Internet only, no mob. number" and lists five fixed plans plus six unlimited passes. The fixed plans are shown below with the price per GB worked out from the list price.

TonMobile UAE planValidityPricePrice per GB

  3. 5 GB 30 days$2.40 per GB$12.00
  4. 10 GB 30 days$2.00 per GB$20.00
  5. 20 GB 30 days$1.70 per GB$34.00
Price per GB on TonMobile's five fixed UAE plans, as listed on October 27, 2026.

TonMobile's price per GB falls with every step up, from $4.00 on the 1 GB plan to $1.70 on the 20 GB plan. The 5 GB plan at $12.00 matches Airalo's 30-day 5 GB price exactly.

TonMobile's unlimited UAE passes cost $5.34 for 1 day, $13.32 for 3 days, $21.50 for 5 days, $29.68 for 7 days, $62.40 for 15 days and $123.72 for 30 days. Each pass gives 1 GB per day at full speed, then slows to 512 kbps for the rest of that day. TonMobile's terms add that unlimited plans may slow after a set consumption threshold.

1 GB usedFull speed512 kbps until tomorrow00:0012:0024:00
How a daily "unlimited" allowance behaves: full speed for the first 1 GB, then 512 kbps until the next day.

TonMobile shows a "Get $1.50 off your first eSIM" offer on the UAE page.

TonMobile checkout accepts Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Bitcoin and TON, according to the payment logos on the TonMobile homepage.

TonMobile sells through four channels: the web store, the App Store, Google Play and a Telegram bot.

The TonMobile eSIM page says setup needs no passport or queues, you keep your own SIM in the phone, and the eSIM can be set up in advance. Keeping the home SIM active means bank codes sent by SMS still reach your usual number.

TonMobile plans can be activated within 180 days of purchase, and the service period starts at activation, not at purchase. A 30-day plan bought in August therefore still gives 30 days of data when you land in Dubai in October.

TonMobile's refund rules sit in the TonMobile terms. A refund request must come before the package expires, for one of four reasons: the device does not support eSIM, the network is unavailable in the coverage area because of the provider, the eSIM was not issued within 4 hours of contacting support, or data could not be enabled for over 4 hours after support confirmed the issue. Support first tries a fix, such as re-activation, a free replacement eSIM or an alternative local network.

TonMobile refuses refunds when the eSIM was activated without issues, the profile was deleted or installed incorrectly, there is no signal outside coverage, or the request comes more than 180 days after purchase. Card refunds take up to 14 calendar days, and electronic and crypto refunds up to 5 business days. Bitcoin refunds are paid in USDT on TRON, TON or Ethereum.

TonMobile is operated by Intermob Limited, a Hong Kong company (number 79904463) at 30 Hollywood Road, Central, Hong Kong. The TonMobile terms are governed by Hong Kong law, and the service is not available to Hong Kong residents.

The TonMobile iPhone app, "TonMobile eSIM: Travel Data", is free with in-app plan purchases and requires iOS 15.1 or later. The App Store listing offers English and Russian and mentions eSIMs for about 200 countries, unlimited data options and in-app setup guides. The listing showed a rating of 4.2 out of 5 from 5 ratings at check time.

Pros

  • 11 UAE plans, from 1 GB for 7 days at $4.00
  • Price per GB falls to $1.70 on the 20 GB plan
  • Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Bitcoin and TON accepted
  • No documents; activation any time within 180 days
  • Written refund rules with a 4-hour support window

Cons

  • Data only: no UAE phone number and no SMS
  • The UAE partner network is not named on the plan page
  • Unlimited passes cost more than Airalo's for the same length ($29.68 vs $27.50 for 7 days)
  • Unlimited speed drops to 512 kbps after 1 GB a day

2. Airalo: lowest unlimited price for long stays

Airalo is a travel eSIM store whose UAE plans run on the Etisalat network, according to the Airalo UAE page.

Airalo's fixed UAE plans start at 1 GB for 3 days at $4.00 and include 3 GB for 7 days at $9.00, 5 GB for 7 days at $11.00 and 10 GB for 7 days at $18.50. Airalo's 30-day plans cost $12.00 for 5 GB, $20.00 for 10 GB and $34.00 for 20 GB, the same as TonMobile's.

Airalo's unlimited plans cost $12.50 for 3 days, $19.00 for 5 days, $27.50 for 7 days, $35.00 for 10 days, $49.00 for 15 days and $72.00 for 30 days. Airalo's 30-day unlimited plan is the cheapest month of unlimited data in this comparison. Airalo also sells a regional Middle East and North Africa plan from $6.50 and a global plan from $8.50.

Pros

  • Named network: Etisalat
  • Unlimited from 3 days at $12.50, and 30 days at $72.00
  • Short 7-day fixed plans for quick trips

Cons

  • The entry 1 GB plan lasts only 3 days
  • Regional and global options add choice but also clutter

3. Nomad: cheapest large fixed bundle

Nomad is a travel eSIM provider with local UAE plans plus regional GCC and MENA plans. Nomad's official page did not load at check time, so the prices below come from the Nomad listing on eSIMDB, updated October 5, 2026.

Nomad's local UAE plans cost $4.00 for 1 GB over 7 days, $8.50 for 3 GB, $11.00 for 5 GB, $18.50 for 10 GB and $29.00 for 20 GB, each over 30 days. Nomad's 20 GB price is $5.00 lower than TonMobile's and Airalo's, which makes Nomad the budget pick for fixed data.

Nomad's unlimited UAE plans cost $12.00 for 3 days, $18.00 for 5 days, $27.00 for 7 days and $34.00 for 10 days. Each Nomad pass gives 2 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps, which is double TonMobile's daily allowance. Nomad plans are data only, with no local number or SMS.

Pros

  • 20 GB for 30 days at $29.00
  • 2 GB a day at full speed on unlimited passes
  • Regional GCC plans for multi-country trips

Cons

  • No unlimited option longer than 10 days
  • Network not stated in the listing

4. Yesim: the longest ladder of unlimited passes

Yesim is a Swiss-run travel eSIM brand, operated by Genesis Group AG in Baar, that sells UAE data through its app and website. The Yesim UAE page lists prices in euros, so the dollar figures below come from the Yesim listing on eSIMDB, updated October 26, 2026. The eSIMDB page notes that listed prices may not reflect a first-purchase promo code.

Yesim's fixed UAE plans all run for 30 days: 1 GB costs about $3.47, 3 GB $7.85, 5 GB $12.33, 10 GB $21.30, 20 GB $35.76 and 30 GB $44.39. On the official page the 1 GB plan is EUR 3.10 and the 20 GB plan EUR 31.90.

Yesim's unlimited UAE passes cost $4.48 for 1 day, $13.45 for 3 days, $22.42 for 5 days, $31.39 for 7 days, $49.32 for 15 days and $111.00 for 30 days, with a price for every day count in between. No other provider here lists as many lengths. Yesim does not state a daily full-speed allowance, only that a fair usage policy may slow the connection after heavy use.

Yesim's checkout accepts Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, UnionPay, JCB, Discover, Diners Club and American Express; no crypto payment is listed. Plans can be activated within 180 days of purchase, and the validity period starts when the phone connects to a compatible network. Yesim warns that its app and website may be restricted in the UAE and advises buying and installing before the trip.

Pros

  • An unlimited pass for every length from 1 to 30 days
  • 1 GB for 30 days at about $3.47
  • Cards, wallets and PayPal accepted

Cons

  • Daily full-speed allowance not stated
  • UAE partner network not named on the official page
  • No crypto payment listed

5. Saily: hotspot sharing from the NordVPN team

Saily is a travel eSIM made by the team behind NordVPN (Nord Security), announced on March 25, 2024. The Saily Dubai page lists hotspot as available and does not name a local network.

Saily's UAE plans cost $8.99 for 1 GB over 7 days, $9.99 for 3 GB, $11.99 for 5 GB, $19.99 for 10 GB and $33.99 for 20 GB, each over 30 days. Saily's unlimited plans start at $48.99, with options from 5 to 30 days.

Saily says its eSIMs cannot be purchased from within the UAE. A Saily plan therefore has to be bought before departure, or at the latest during a layover outside the country.

Pros

  • Hotspot listed as available
  • Monthly plans from 3 GB at $9.99
  • Backed by Nord Security

Cons

  • 1 GB for 7 days costs $8.99
  • Unlimited starts at $48.99
  • Purchase blocked from inside the UAE

6. Holafly: unlimited day passes on du

Holafly is a travel eSIM brand that sells only unlimited data for the UAE, on the du network. The Holafly UAE page shows plans from 1 to 20 days, with a lower daily price on longer plans.

Holafly's one-day UAE pass costs $6.90, shown down from $8.90. Holafly caps hotspot sharing at 500 MB a day and says fair usage may apply. Holafly plans have no local number or SMS, and calls go only through apps.

Pros

  • Named network: du
  • Daily price drops on longer plans
  • Simple choice: unlimited only

Cons

  • No small fixed plans
  • Hotspot capped at 500 MB a day
  • Fair usage may slow heavy use

7. Roamless: pay as you go with no expiry

Roamless is a travel eSIM provider that uses a DU partner network in the UAE, according to the Roamless Dubai guide. Roamless offers two models: RoamlessFlex, a pay-as-you-go balance with no expiry, and RoamlessFix, a set of fixed plans valid for 30 days.

RoamlessFix plans run from 1 GB for $5.95 to 10 GB for $49.95, according to pricing the page states as accurate on January 7, 2026. Roamless's 10 GB price is the highest 10 GB price in this comparison, against $20.00 at TonMobile and Airalo. Roamless lists no unlimited option for the UAE.

Roamless says eSIM installation is not permitted once you are physically in the UAE.

Pros

  • Flex balance does not expire between trips
  • Named DU partner network

Cons

  • 10 GB at $49.95 is the priciest 10 GB here
  • No unlimited option listed for the UAE

8. Ubigi: du network, bought before you fly

Ubigi sells data-only UAE plans on the du network, according to its Ubigi UAE plan pages. Prices show a dollar sign in the headline while the cart shows euro amounts at the same numbers, so check the currency at checkout.

Ubigi's one-off plans cost $5 for 1 GB over 7 days, $19 for 10 GB over 7 days, $21 for 10 GB over 30 days and $46 for 25 GB over 30 days. Monthly renewing plans cost $9 for 5 GB and $34 for 20 GB and can be cancelled after three months. Ubigi's unlimited-branded passes cost $12 for 1 day and $34 for 7 days, with a total full-speed cap (20 GB on the 7-day pass) and then 2 Mbps.

Ubigi says its app and website are not reachable from inside the UAE, so a plan has to be bought and installed before the flight. With "Smartstart" the validity period begins on arrival, and an unused plan expires if it is not activated within six months of purchase. Ubigi says its plans cannot be used by UAE residents while in the UAE. Payment methods and refund terms were not found on the plan pages.

Pros

  • Named network: du
  • Plan clock starts on arrival
  • Data sharing allowed on the plan checked

Cons

  • App and website not reachable inside the UAE
  • Currency shown inconsistently
  • Payment and refund terms not found

How to choose an eSIM for the UAE

Choosing a UAE eSIM comes down to five questions: how many days you stay, how much data you use, whether you share a hotspot, how you pay and when you buy.

  • Trip length. A 7-day trip fits TonMobile's 1 GB plan or a 7-day unlimited pass; anything longer fits the 30-day fixed plans that every provider except Holafly lists.
  • Data use. Maps, taxis and messages use little data; video, streaming and work calls use much more. Our guide to how much data you need in Dubai covers typical use by activity.
  • Hotspot. Saily lists hotspot as available, while Holafly caps sharing at 500 MB a day. Check the hotspot terms before buying an unlimited pass for a laptop.
  • Payment. If you want to pay with crypto, TonMobile lists Bitcoin and TON alongside Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
  • Timing. TonMobile plans can be activated within 180 days of purchase, and Saily and Roamless must be bought or installed before you reach the UAE.

To see the lowest price for your exact days and data, use the UAE eSIM plan finder. The trip data planner below gives a rough GB range for your stay and suggests whether a fixed plan or a daily unlimited pass fits better.

Trip data planner

How will you use data?

A quick pre-purchase checklist helps avoid the most common UAE eSIM mistakes.

  • Your phone supports eSIM and is not carrier-locked.
  • The plan covers the full stay, counted from activation.
  • The data allowance matches the planner estimate, with some margin.
  • Hotspot is allowed if you plan to share data.
  • Your payment method is accepted at checkout.
  • You can buy and install the plan before you board.

Fixed plans vs unlimited passes

A fixed plan gives a set amount of data for a set number of days, while an unlimited pass gives a daily full-speed allowance and then slows down. TonMobile's unlimited passes give 1 GB a day at full speed, then 512 kbps, and Nomad's give 2 GB a day, then 1 Mbps. Our eSIM glossary explains fair usage and throttling terms.

A 7-day Dubai trip shows the price gap clearly. TonMobile's 5 GB plan costs $12.00, while a 7-day unlimited pass costs $29.68 on TonMobile, $27.50 on Airalo and $27.00 on Nomad. The fixed 5 GB plan saves $17.68 against TonMobile's own 7-day unlimited pass.

The 7-day unlimited pass on TonMobile delivers 7 GB at full speed in total, only 2 GB more than the $12.00 fixed plan. Nomad's 7-day pass delivers up to 14 GB at full speed for $27.00.

Where your eSIM works in the UAE

Travel eSIMs in the UAE run on one of the two national mobile operators, e& (formerly Etisalat) or du, both regulated by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA).

Three providers name their UAE network: Airalo says Etisalat, Holafly says du, and Roamless says a DU partner network. TonMobile, Saily and the Nomad listing do not name one. Roamless claims stable signal across Downtown Dubai and 4G up to 5G across Palm Jumeirah; that is a provider claim, not an independent coverage measurement.

eSIM or tourist SIM at the airport

A travel eSIM is set up at home before the flight, while a tourist SIM is bought on arrival from e&, du or Virgin Mobile.

Travel eSIM

  • Bought and installed at home, before departure
  • No passport or queue, per TonMobile's eSIM page
  • Home SIM stays in the phone for bank SMS codes
  • Data only on TonMobile, Nomad and Holafly: no UAE number
  • Saily and Roamless block purchase or installation inside the UAE

Tourist SIM

  • Etisalat visitor line needs only a passport and lasts 90 days
  • du Tourist SIM is booked online, then collected and paid for at airport stores in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah
  • Virgin Mobile sells tourist SIMs at airport kiosks for 7, 10 or 15 days
  • Comes with a local UAE number
  • Replaces or sits beside the home SIM, depending on the phone

A local tourist SIM is the better choice when you need a UAE phone number, for example for local deliveries, bookings that send SMS codes to a UAE number, or a stay close to the 90-day Etisalat visitor line. The full trade-off is in our eSIM vs tourist SIM guide.

WhatsApp and FaceTime calls in the UAE

WhatsApp and FaceTime voice and video calls are restricted on UAE networks, including e& and du and most Wi-Fi, according to a GigSky guide published in July 2026. The same guide describes this as a long-standing federal rule enforced by TDRA. WhatsApp text messages, photos, voice notes and status updates still work.

App calls on a foreign travel eSIM sometimes connect because traffic routes outside the UAE, but GigSky says this is not reliable. No eSIM provider in this comparison can promise that WhatsApp calls will work, and you should not plan around them.

  • Text chats, photos, voice notesWorksWork on UAE networks
  • WhatsApp voice and video callsRestrictedRestricted on e& and du

  • Botim and C'MeWorksLicensed calling apps
  • Teams, Zoom, Google MeetWorksOn the Gulf News list of allowed apps
What works on UAE networks for visitors, per published guides in 2024 and 2026.

Licensed calling apps are the dependable option. GigSky names Botim as a licensed calling app and C'Me as another licensed option. Gulf News lists apps allowed for calls in the UAE, including BOTIM, GoChat Messenger, Voico, Comera, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Cisco Webex and Slack, with free Teams meetings up to 60 minutes and free Zoom meetings up to 40 minutes.

Warning

WhatsApp and FaceTime calls may fail in the UAE on any eSIM or Wi-Fi network. Install Botim or a work app such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams before you fly, and agree on a backup with anyone who needs to reach you. Our WhatsApp calls in Dubai guide covers the details.

Set up before you fly

Setting up a UAE eSIM at home takes five steps and works best on home Wi-Fi a day or two before departure. Saily says its eSIMs cannot be bought inside the UAE, and Roamless says installation is not permitted once you are in the country, so setup before the flight is the safe default.

  1. Check the phone

Apple says eSIM works on iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR or later, and the iPhone must not be carrier-locked. Open SettingsGeneralAbout and look for "No SIM Restrictions" next to Carrier Lock.

  2. Buy the plan

Choose the plan from the comparison above and pay at checkout. TonMobile plans can be bought up to 180 days ahead, since the clock starts at activation.

  3. Install on home Wi-Fi

Install the eSIM by QR code or through the provider's app, as Apple describes for prepaid travel plans.

  4. Switch lines on landing

After landing, choose the travel line in SettingsCellularCellular Data and turn on data roaming for the travel line only.

  5. Test the connection

Open a map or send a message before leaving the airport. Apple notes that with only the travel eSIM on, FaceTime and iMessage keep working on your home number.

  1. Wheels downKeep the eSIM line off until the seatbelt sign goes off.
  2. Line onTurn on the travel eSIM line you installed at home.
  3. Data linePick the travel line for cellular data.
  4. RoamingAllow data roaming on the travel line if the provider asks for it.
  5. First messageSend a text in a messaging app to check data works.
From the seatbelt sign to your first message.

Apple says an iPhone can manage up to eight or more eSIMs, so an old travel line does not need to be removed to add a new one. The step-by-step version is in our guide to setting up an eSIM before Dubai.

Buying early: TonMobile plans can be activated within 180 days of purchase.

If the eSIM does not connect

Most UAE eSIM connection problems come from phone settings, not from the network.

  • Turn on data roaming for the travel line; most travel eSIMs need it.
  • Set the travel line as the data line in SettingsCellularCellular Data.
  • Switch airplane mode on and off, or restart the phone, to force a new network search.
  • Check that the plan is active and still has data left in the provider's app.
  • Make sure the phone is not carrier-locked, which blocks other carriers' eSIMs.

Do not delete the eSIM profile while troubleshooting. TonMobile's terms exclude refunds when the profile was deleted or installed incorrectly.

TonMobile support handles cases where the eSIM was not issued within 4 hours of contacting support, or data could not be enabled for over 4 hours after support confirmed the issue. Support first offers re-activation, a free replacement eSIM or an alternative local network, and a refund if none of these works. More fixes are in our UAE eSIM not working guide.

Verdict

TonMobile is the best all-round eSIM for Dubai and the UAE in 2026, with 11 UAE plans from $4.00, card and crypto checkout, no documents and a 180-day activation window. TonMobile's main weaknesses are a data-only line, an unnamed UAE network and unlimited passes that cost more than Airalo's.

Airalo is the better choice for a month of unlimited data at $72.00, and Nomad for the cheapest 20 GB at $29.00. Whichever provider you choose, install it before the flight and rely on licensed apps such as Botim for calls, since WhatsApp and FaceTime calls are restricted on UAE networks.
